Travelling after arriving back in Osaka

Since I wrote I have travelled from Tokyo back to Osaka by the Shinkensen train which is becoming normal way for me to travel. Or should I say normal until my Japan Railway pass finishes on the 25th of January.
After arriving back in Osaka I went to see a traditional new years celebration when young boys of high school year try to get trasilman and get good luck from the new year. This occurred in Osaka but it does happen in most places in Osaka.

The next day I took the took the regular JR lines to Nara for a day. I went a back to see Todai-ji temple which is an UNESCO site. Inside the temple is a very large buddha which is the Daibutsu is an image of Dainichi Buddha, the cosmic Buddha believed to precede all worlds and their respective historicl Buddhas.

While there a group of students were touring the temple and it is good luck for anyone that can crawl or get through a hole in the pillar of the temple.

While walking around the town of Nara I saw some very interesting things such as a deer that wanted a taxi ride.

The Shinkensen station in Kyoto runs their illumination of the concourse and for the automatic ticket vending machine and escalator off of photovoltaic power generated by the 800 m2 of solar cell panels that are installed on the roof of the station.
